The problem facing most public school educators now is one of an economic nature. The numbers of adjunct college faculty members and outright unemployed secondary school teachers is almost beyond imagination. The reality is that the academic labor model is in the process of changing from one that is based in a physical classroom and into one that is located on the Internet in the form of online bachelor degree programs and online master’s degree programs, at least as post-secondary education is concerned and for underemployed and unemployed academics with a graduate degree the community college and university level of the academy is where the majority of online adjunct jobs are located right now. Those academics in need of a real living that possess a master’s degree or Ph.D. should know that teaching students earning a masters degree online or a bachelors degree online can go a long way to recover lost income from teaching. In fact, it is entirely possible to generate enough online adjunct income streams to produce a handsome sum of money each month, and in the process of earn a living by teaching online it is possible to pick and choose which geographic location to be in each day.

Frankly, it isn’t possible to make too much of a big deal out of the mobility offered by teaching online for a variety of online college degree programs. As more students enroll in online college courses that lead to an online masters degree in education, an online masters degree psychology or an online rn nursing degree the more need there will be for academically prepared and technically proficient online adjunct instructors that understand how to be academic entrepreneurs rather than mere state employees subject to the whims of state budget cuts. The public school teacher that grasps the full impact of technology on the education profession will immediately understand why online teaching is the future of teaching in general. After all, the current layoffs are a direct result of academic administrators’ desire to retain their own salaries by deciding that teachers are less of a positive investment, so to speak, than the physical plants, the college, community college and university campuses and the high school and elementary schools, are in the long term. In fact, the administrators may be forced to defund the faculty by the reality of the economy and its developing dynamic that insists that physical structures must be services over the intellectual capital represented by the classroom experience and educational achievements of the teachers. That said, the other issue that the academic administrators must face on a daily basis, and this is especially worrisome for post-secondary administrators, is the ballooning student bodies as more and more individual return to college in order to earn a degree. The way that teaching at the post-secondary level will be accomplished is to hire many online adjunct instructors qualified to teach students earning a masters degree online, for example, pay them a small amount of income to teach an individual class from their personal computers. However, the adjunct instructors will be free to teach online college classes from any place on the globe that offers access to the Internet, and they will be free to teach for multiple online college degree programs with a variety of colleges and community colleges, which will allow the online adjuncts to recover lost income.

Online college classes can help you avoid a meltdown, and who in these times of uncertainty doesn’t need some help; happily, teaching a handful of online college classes can put a considerable amount of weekly or bimonthly income in your personal pocket. College teachers, traditionally, have depended primarily on state taxes to fund their salaries if they taught at a state institution of higher education. Of course, there are those college teachers who teach for private schools funded by donations from the private sector, but even those institutions, colleges and universities, are feeling the pinch, and the state college and university teachers are being thrown under the bus, so to speak, every day. The truth of the matter is that there will be fewer and fewer full time, traditional college teaching jobs available and more and more online college classes needing an Instructor to take up the slack. Naturally, there will be some protest about the demise of intellectual freedom and how such employment developments bode ill for the nation’s college students, but it is what it is, and those with the brains to figure out that all the protest in the world, all the essays written, all the shocked looks will not change the parameters that are forming in front of college teachers will earn a living, perhaps a very good living: learn how to acquire and teach online college classes if you are a college teacher and want to make some money.

Realize that it may take some time, a year perhaps, to actually make a living teaching online college classes, but it is entirely possible to earn larger and larger amounts as you go along collecting one or two college courses from several online university degree programs, and know for a fact that the number of online courses will only grow from here on out as higher education becomes more and more important to the general scheme of things. The best thing to do if you want to teach for an online school is start searching for open online degree positions with colleges and universities that have caught on, finally, to how cost effective it is to deliver distance education to college students instead of maintaining physical structures that require constant labor to keep open. Another good thing to do is adjust your mindset concerning education as a consumable commodity. Certainly, this view of education goes against the grain, but remember that the grain, a worldview in other words, developed in your mind during a period of history in which higher education was supported by strong budgets. Today, the financial underpinnings for college faculty support is crumbling, and compared to the support provided for online college classes and the teachers required to instruct the students earning an online college degree, is practically nonexistent. The trick to making a living from teaching online college classes is to change how you look at your college teaching skill set and how you offer that skills set to the distance education market.

Earn With Online College Classes

The market for college teachers to teach college students earning online degrees is really out there and it does pay a fair amount for what is required, but it will take more than one stab at that market to find enough online teaching to qualify as a full time income. Probably the easiest was to do this is to set up a rotation system of applying to a large number of colleges and universities that offer online classes to students who want to earn an online college degree. The search will be perpetual, make no mistake about that aspect of this business, but that is the nature of online college classes in the main.

The interesting aspect of online college classes, at least to me, is that they produce income for both the students and Instructors. Granted, the income for students is delayed somewhat by the organic length of time required to complete college courses, and while online degree courses are more numerous than college classes on the ground, which is a function of the more available time line produced by technology, the income will come eventually as a result of students having more distance learning. Make no mistake about it: attending a college online with the intent of earning, say, an online MBA will definitely increase the potential and actual income of the holder of the college degree in the future. Of course, the income circumstances are slightly different for those wishing to instruct students in online college classes. As soon as someone, you, the holder of a graduate degree online or off, with the proper credentials is hired to teach for one of the online college programs, the boost in income is almost immediate. One of the first aspect of increased income is noticed by the loss of need to pay for transportation to arrive at work. This also holds true for students attending online universities in pursuit of one or more college degrees online. Students taking on line college courses do not have to spend income for fuel in order to attend class. In both cases, there is pragmatic evidence that online college classes produce income.

There is little or no debate about the levels of income one can achieve with a college degree, but there is the issue of immediate income and how to encourage it in terms of personal economic effect. For the Instructor teaching online college classes, it is possible to generate several thousand dollars in extra income simply by teaching two or three courses at a time. The primary benefit of teaching students seeking an online university degree is that there are more classes to teach during the course of the calendar year. The traditional breaks, summer, holidays, are filled with class time. Distance education, and this is especially true of the for-profit online college programs, deliberately take advantage of the extra class time offered by the technology driving online college classes. Thus, given that it is possible to teach for several online universities at once, and it is possible to teach two or three online college courses for each of the online programs, the monthly amount of income can dramatically mount when compared to the complete lack of classes during the same time period for a traditional program.

Income From Online College Classes

Interestingly, students can produce income, albeit passive in most cases, simply by saving by not spending in order to earn, for example, an online bachelor degree. It will surprise most students to discover how much extra money they spend every time they attend a traditional class in order to earn a college degree. At the same time, it will certainly surprise Instructors who make the effort to secure a couple of online college classes that the extra income online learning produces from the instruction side is much more than they imagined in the beginning.

It in the end, it is smart to take a hard look at online education courses as a way to increase income from online college classes.
